LeMesurier – WP and Deliverables list

WP1 – Direct KPIs: Accounting

WP1 assess the 2 Zero project’s contribution to the partnership’s objectives by establishing a common framework to monitor KPIs, refining their definitions, and accounting for their impact. It uses various techniques to gather data and perform a qualitative assessment to provide a comprehensive analysis.

  • D1.1 – Methods, frameworks & baselines to assess the direct KPIs

WP2 – Compound KPIs: Accounting

WP2 is building a framework to assess 2Zero compound KPIs. It achieves this by exploiting the 2Zero project’s digital twins, establishing 2020 baseline values measuring results for the 2025 and 2035 period and quantifying the 2Zero projects’ contributions to the reduction of the energy and GHG intensity.

  • D2.1 – Selection of the relevant 2ZERO projects for evaluation

  • D2.2 – Selected model inputs including translation of the 2ZERO project outputs (with an update in M17)

  • D2.3 – Visualisation and discussion of the results of scenario model runs

  • D2.4 – Calculated Compound parameter KPIs

WP3 – Assessing the Interactions, Impacts & Effectiveness

WP3 analyzes the overall success of the 2ZERO partnership in achieving its goals for Europe. It evaluates the project’s impact on broad objectives like carbon neutrality, air quality, and economic growth, and examines how these objectives influence each other. Finally, it uses the combined KPIs to draw conclusions about 2ZERO’s effectiveness and make recommendations for future actions.

  • D3.1 – Baseline information for the assessment of the generic objectives of carbon neutrality, air quality, technology leadership, economic growth, competitiveness and circular economy in Europe

  • D3.2 – Impact and effectiveness of the 2ZERO RIA concerning the Generic Objectives

Read here

(This deliverable is pending approval by the European Commission)

  • D3.3 – Interactions of the KPIs between the different Generic Objectives

(This deliverable is pending approval by the European Commission)

WP4 – Recommendations

WP4 aims to improve how the 2Zero Partnership’s effectiveness is measured by suggesting ways to strengthen existing KPI tracking measures, develop a more advanced measurement framework, and identify additional relevant KPIs.

WP5 – Project management

WP5 ensures the project achieves its goals within time, budget, and quality standards. It involves setting up project administration, internal communication channels, managing contracts and documents, organizing meetings, monitoring progress and finances, communicating with the European Commission (EC), and overseeing reports and deliverables.

  • D5.1 Project intranet, internal communication guidelines, contact database & templates

WP6 – Communication, Dissemination and Exploitation

WP6 aims to effectively communicate LeMesurier’s project results within the 2Zero Partnership and to the broader world. This involves defining a communication plan with target audiences and information types, developing communication tools, fostering a stakeholder community, sharing research results through various events, publishing scientific papers, and creating an exploitation plan to ensure the project’s lasting impact.

Impact of the 2ZERO Partnership project portfolio on the energy consumption of electric vehicles and EU27 GHG indicators to 2050 – the LeMesurier project

Siamidis, P.; Lampropopulos, Z.; Papadimitriou, G.; Edwards, S.; Samaras, Z. (2025) Transport and Pollution (TaP) Conference

Abstract: The LeMesurier project aims to account for the contribution of 2ZERO Partnership’s project portfolio towards the main objectives of the Partnership and their targets, as measured against a set of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). In this context, a modelling framework for measuring and monitoring the KPIs had to be established and realised. The first step was to identify the relevant projects and translate their results into inputs for the models that would be used to project the impact of 2ZERO. The selected projects have been approached with a detailed questionnaire and interviews. At the time of performing this exercise, the majority of the projects could not provide ‘mature’ or final results. A simulation approach within the LeMesurier project has been followed, enabling the estimation of the behaviour of the 2ZERO technology development on the vehicle performance. Specifically, physics-based vehicle models have been developed on a commercial multiscale platform; the aim of the simulations was to derive energy consumption values for battery and fuel cell electric vehicles as a function of speed and other parameters. The second step was to transfer and use these results within the COPERT/SIBYL tool in order to calculate a value for the Compound KPIs. Subsequently, a projection of the impact of the 2ZERO project portfolio on the EU27 vehicle parc could be made. The calculated values of Compound KPIs and the projected impact of 2ZERO thereon are presented and discussed in this paper.

Impact of 2ZERO technologies on energy consumption of electric vehicles: a simulation approach enabling integration into COPERT/SIBYL categories

Lampropopulos, Z.; Siamidis, P.; Papadimitriou, G.; Edwards, S.; Samaras, Z. (2025) EARPA FORM Forum

Abstract: This study presents a method and part of the results from the LeMesurier project. A simulation-based approach leveraging physics-based vehicle models has been followed to calculate the energy consumption of emerging battery and fuel cell electric vehicle (BEV and FCEV) technologies, as derived from the 2ZERO projects’ contributions. Estimation methods have been further applied to extend the results beyond explicit 2ZERO projects’ use-cases. After a thorough analysis of the results, all vehicles and their respective energy consumption values have been assigned to specific categories of the COPERT/SIBYL model. This process enables the assessment of the potential impact of the 2ZERO project portfolio on projections of the EU27 road transport energy consumption, from the end of the decade up to 2050. A key result of this study is that there seems to be up to an additional 2% saving (i.e., less energy consumption) projected in 2050 from road transport compared to the values calculated until now with the COPERT/SIBYL tool used for policy purposes at the EU level..
