LeMesurier Project supports the World Sustainable Transport Day’s mission

Given its substantial contribution to emissions, the transport sector is a central focus in sustainability debates. Accounting for roughly a quarter of Europe’s greenhouse gas emissions, it demands an urgent need for change. To underscore this, the United Nations designated November 26 as World Sustainable Transport Day, aiming to inspire a rethinking of how people and goods move. LeMesurier, launched under the 2ZERO Partnership, aligns closely with this mission, actively contributing to a more sustainable future for transport. The project is advancing the European Union’s policies, including the European Green Deal and the Fit for 55 package, by providing a framework to measure and monitor the real-world impacts of innovations in road transport.

A key challenge in achieving sustainable transport lies in ensuring that ambitious goals are backed by tangible, quantifiable results. LeMesurier is developing a comprehensive KPI framework to evaluate the outcomes of EU-funded projects part of the 2ZERO. These KPIs—spanning energy efficiency, GHG emissions, and beyond—are instrumental in assessing how innovative solutions contribute to decarbonising road transport.

By leveraging advanced methodologies such as Digital Twins and the COPERT, PRIMES, and MOVEID models, the project enables accurate impact measurement and future scenario projections. This approach ensures that the efforts of the 2ZERO Partnership align with both EU policies and global sustainability benchmarks.

Advancing global sustainability goals

LeMesurier’s work extends beyond European objectives. It also aligns with the global agenda by contributing to several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It contributed to advancing SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) by fostering energy-efficient road transport solutions and promoting innovation in sustainable mobility, creating economic opportunities in line with SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth). The project also supports SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) by assessing the effective reduction of transport pollution. It encourages SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), while it highlights its commitment to SDG 13 (Climate Action).

World Sustainable Transport Day is a reminder of the collective effort required to transform mobility systems worldwide. LeMesurier exemplifies how EU-funded initiatives are leading this transformation by providing the data, tools, and insights necessary for evidence-based decisions. By measuring the impact of road transport innovations, the project seeks to ensure that every step towards sustainable mobility is rooted in accountability and measurable progress.
