Half of the first year of the LeMesurier project has already gone by. After the first six successful months focused on laying a solid groundwork, the project consortium held its first online General Assembly on 20 June to delve into the progress made. To ensure the project stays aligned with the needs of the European transportation sector, LeMesurier convened its Advisory Board for this open discussion to jointly shape the project’s next steps.
LeMesurier is evaluating the effectiveness of 2Zero EU-funded projects in driving Europe towards zero-emission road transport. This ambitious task implies defining Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that measure the projects’ real-world impact. The project’s work plan consists of three key phases: accounting, assessing, and recommending. In this initial stage, the team has focused on defining KPIs that align with the 2Zero project objectives, gathering information from the 2Zero projects to get a clearer picture of their expected results based on these KPIs. For the project’s first semester, the LeMesurier consortium has established 40 KPIs to assess 30 different 2Zero projects. This challenging task implies the evaluation of massive amounts of data from various sources, including the projects themselves, 2Zero Digital Twins and other sources. Moreover, the projects under scrutiny are still ongoing and might suffer changes, so LeMesurier partners need to work closely with the project coordinators to stay current. The initial selection process identified 20 projects, categorized across vehicle, component, infrastructure, and miscellaneous areas.
The next step is to translate the project results into model inputs. To assess the combined impact of the compound KPIs, LeMesurier utilizes three models, COPERT/SIBYL, PRIMES/TREMOVE, and MOVE, to gain a more robust understanding of the projects’ overall impact and make more reliable projections into the future using the strengths of one approach or the other.
Strong teamwork is crucial to achieving our goal. The work presented during the General Assembly showcased the effective collaboration happening within our team and the smooth connection between different project partners and work packages.
Over the next few months, the consortium plans to participate in more events to share their findings and connect with other relevant initiatives. Our project is committed to long-term impact on measuring zero emissions in transport. We encourage stakeholders to stay informed by following the project’s website and reviewing our publicly released deliverables. In the final stage, the project will provide valuable recommendations for improving measurement and evaluation methods, which will benefit both the 2ZERO partnership and other initiatives pursuing a cleaner transportation future.
